Pincén S.A. Laboratories – Argentinean Biotechnology
Pincén S.A. Laboratories is a technology-based Small and Medium Company. It began as a result of a project evaluated and approved by the National Agency of Scientific and Technological Promotion according to the established in the promotion contract ANR-NA 167/03 (Res. ANPCyT/ FONTAR 143/03) of Secretary for Science, Technology and Productive Innovation.
The original Project begun with the idea of developing biological product for domestic use with no adverse environmental effects to control sanitary plagues like mosquitoes vectors (Aedes, Anopheles, Culex). The level of production is aimed to satisfy the increasing demand for an efficient product for sanitary mosquito control, pointing to a market wich includes public health campaigns, municipalities, plagues control operators and private users.
The company is situated in Berazategui, it has 10.000 m2 of land with a plant of 400 m2 covered surface area. It produces biological larvicides, based on the parasporal crystal produced by Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) for sanitary plagues control.
Pincen S.A. laboratories is the first Argentine company developing the Bt technology for sanitary mosquito control. In August 2008 it launched DiptoKill-Bt® (PAMS Number 027.844, Ministry of Health). Moreover has developed a presentation of the biological larvicide in spray (which is in approval process by National Food and Drug Administration) to be addressed into the mass consumer segment by selling on shelves of the first product in spray focused on mosquito’s larvaes.
Due to its environmental characteristics it is recommended by the World Health Organization for epidemiological control of Aedes agyptii as a vector of viral deseases; hence is habitually used for dengue control campaigns.
