History of Chief Pincén

Chief Pincén is one of the symbols of native communities in the fight to preserv their land and culture against the Conquest of the Desert .".

Vicente Pincén was mapuche and he was deputy of General-in-Chief Calfucurá or Blue Stone. He established in the city now known as Trenque Lauquen City and developed his actions in the west of Buenos Aires Province.

He was a robust man, 1.80 meter tall, horsebreaker and puma tamer. He was ingenius and brave. He is a legendary figure of the second half of the 20th century.

Toward 1878 he was captured by order of the minister of war, General Julio Argentino Roca. Pincén was one of the chiefs who resisted until the end the offensive and the stealing of their lands. He was transferred to a prison in Martin García island.

His death is a mystery. Some poople believe that he died in Martín García, after some years of freedom. Some other people believe that he went back to Guaminí where he died or that he did it on the banks of a lagoon called El Dorado.

The company pays tribute making his name known.
